Wellness / Holistic Health-care

In the United States, Wellness (Holistic) approaches to health care have become increasingly popular. They are most often used as a preventative measure or to address chronic conditions. The National Institute of Health defines the spectrum of Wellness approaches as Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). Integrative Health care is a movement which promotes the usage of Western Medicine and Complementary and Alternative Medicine approaches that have been proven safe and effective.

As it has become more availability, individuals struggling with addiction look towards Wellness programs/Holistic health care for answers and to address their underlying or contributing issues. Relative to Western Medicine, CAM is less researched and regulated. Discuss the use of CAM approaches with your health care professional.

The National Institute of Health (NIH) classifies Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) into 5 categories: bodywork, mind-body, energy work, bio-based, and alternative medicine.
