Polydrug Addiction
Addicts often uses a combination of substances to negate the side effects of each other resulting in polydrug addiction. For example, they may use a depressant like alocohol or benzodiazepines (Valium, Xanax...) to counter the side effects of a stimulant like cocaine or methamphetamine. "Speed Balling" is the use of cocaine/crack with heroin.
Even more dangerous that abusing a single substance, polydrug users face the potential for drug-drug interactions that can cause life threatening side effect.
