HIV/AIDS and Addiction

Human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)is a communicable disease of the immune system that progresses into Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). The virus is transmitted through bodily fluids (blood, semen...). High risk sexual behavior (unsafe sex, unprotected sex with multiple partners) and sharing needles is often associated with drug usage and addictive behaviors. As a result, addiction often co-occurs with HIV/AIDS.
