Due to societal norms, religious condemnation, violence, and oppression, the Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, Transgender, Questioning, and Intersex (GLBTQI) Community has one of the highest rates of addiction, depression, suicide... In addition, sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex minorities often struggle with self acceptance which contributes to their high addiction rates. Fear and experiences of rejection and misunderstanding can cause a GLBTQI person to avoid seeking help.
